Medications
- preventative: levETIRAcetam 100mg/mL oral solution 4mL twice daily by mouth.
- emergency rescue: diazePAM nasal spray 10mg administered once in case of seizure lasting 5 minutes or longer, sprayed in one nostril.
Diagnoses
- Neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy
- Localization-related (focal) (partial) symptomatic epilepsy and epileptic syndromes with complex partial seizures, not intractable, without status epilepticus
Relevant medical history
- Born by caesarean section without a heartbeat; resuscitated, received cooling treatment, stayed in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for 8 days.
- Had seizures in the NICU; took phenobarbital for first three months of life with no further seizures observed then.
- Complex partial seizures ("staring spells") started around 18 months of age.
